Walking the Halls of Change: A Historic Visit to Queen’s Park
It wasn’t just a field trip—it was a statement.
This marked a monumental milestone for the "Building Our Future" Skills Development Program. For the first time, our trainees walked through the doors of Queen’s Park, not just as visitors, but as the future of Ontario’s workforce.
For many People with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (IDD), the path to employment can often feel invisible. Standing in the heart of our provincial government changed that narrative. You could feel the shift in the room—a palpable sense of confidence and belonging. It was a powerful realization for our trainees: I belong here, and my future matters.
This visit brought our curriculum to life. The concepts of mentorship, career exploration, and self-advocacy moved from the classroom to the real world.
We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to the Ministry of Labour and the Honourable Minister David Piccini. Thank you for not only opening your doors but for recognizing that a strong economy is an inclusive one. Your support validates the hard work our trainees put in every single day.
When we give everyone a fair chance to learn, the return on investment is independence, pride, and a stronger community for us all.
